Russel Frink
Born in Mystic, SD in 1921, Russel Frink had an idyllic childhood.
Panning for gold to buy his candy bars at his uncle's nearby store
and King fly fisherman of 3 area creeks, he was delighted to supply
his heroes (the Burlington RR engineers of the big Mallet steam
locomotives) with a frequent string of trout. After Naval service
through WWII and retiring from Boeing Aerospace Divisions in
Seattle, WA, Russel is back home in the Black Hills where Mystic is
now a National Historic Site. He still
maintains a gold mine site in Mystic and thoroughly enjoys showing
people local history, how to gold pan, and recreates echoes of
Mystic's bustling past.
Truly, this is one of our favorites!
